      I borrowed this book from a friend because I just want to compare which is better, the book or the movie. And after reading this, I find it better and funnier in some ways.I also noticed that in the movie, (as far as I can remember) it just gave us some teasers/clue that again, Gulliver is in another strange country/place, and that's it.       I normally prefer to read the original stories, rather than adaptations, but our oldest got this book in her fifth grade class and really liked it, so she brought it home for us to read together. This book offers condensed versions of two of Gulliver's tales, where he visits Lilliput and Brobdingnag. The book took us a lot longer to read together than I expected, but overall we found the tales to be interesting. I wonder how much was edited, though, and at times the narrative felt a bit flat.       Nice story that is organized in a logical sequence in that it is a chapter book. This is a classic story about Gulliver who travels to a far off land. It is an imaginative story that is good for young readers. Very little use of conventions of Standard English in that there is not much conversation but the book has comma uses, capitalization, punctuation. Illustrations also help with the story.       This book was okay also because it talked of a young sailor who who washed up on Lilliput and was taken hostage by miniature people who taken them hostage and was made to meet their king and sooner or later learned their language then eventually left then went back to sea and was brought to brobdingnab by a freak accident and was in a land of giants and had went over the same process and had some fun mini-adventures and was taken away by a big bird.

      Joshie loves this book he's just about finished with the cute series of Littles books so I guess he's on a "tiny people streak." THis series is a fun intro-to-classics for 7-yr-olds.

      this book was actually very awesome and you should definitly read it! But do'nt get upset if it's nothing like the movie c'ause it's actually BETTER! So read it!
