I read this when we got a second puppy and we had trouble leaving the house because he would go insane. He has isolation distress, couldn't be left in a crate, was peeing and pooping all over and himself, and definitely wasn't trustworthy enough to have free roam of the house like our first dog. This book gave a lot of resources and ideas for you to look into if you have a distressed dog. It was a quick read and lots of the suggestions are easy to implement and we're already seeing progress with [...]

Good information, I appreciate the fact that she talks about diet and its effects on the dog'a behavior. To some extent the book makes it seem like a huge process to end up with a more self-sufficient dog, but it's really not such a massive chore when you boil it down. My solution of course is never to have just one dog!

The author does a great job defining separation anxiety and how to manage and treat. For pet owners who are working along side a trainer this book would be a great additional resource. Anyone could easily read and quickly implement the protocols. There are Resources and suggested products as well. I think that this is a great resource for trainers for additional ideas and product suggestions.

Excellent book! Our 6 year old rescue collie has begun to show moderate signs of separation anxiety and is currently on trazadone and xanax. I just finished this book and, as suggested, plan to change his diet and begin to implement the training methods in this book. I'm extremely hopeful between this and a hired trainer, we will get his anxiety under control.

This is the best book for Separation Anxiety that I've found. If you're struggling with that, this is a must have.

Helpful. I don't really know how to review a teaching non-fiction book? I feel like I learned some stuff. So yay!

A lot of great suggestions for putting together a consistent training program. Only thing it is missing is more suggestions on reinforcements for dogs that aren't motivated by food or toys.
