I'm not quite sure how to categorize this one. It's a romance, and a sweet one at that, but that's not the main focus. It's a mystery and it has suspense elements, definitely, but most of the book is not action packed. This is a quiet book with twists and turns, but much of it is internal. This is a book about Meara, a woman who is searching for information about her birth parents and her early years. It's centred around an old inn and mountain property and the story deeply involves the family wh [...]

This was a great fast read about a woman who is called to the bed of her dying birth mother following a car accident. The mother dies before telling Meara the reasons for her adoption, but the mother says " I always loved you" Soon Meara learns that she may be in titled to inherited a portion of a vast estate of land in the Pennsylvania Laurel Mountains. So begins, Merna's journey to find her history and a long the way she finds answers, love, friendship and her greatest desire- family.

Loved it. It brought back memories or reading Barbara Michaels, and I adored the heroined of course the hero. The story was maybe a tad predictable, but as it was very close to reading Gothic-Romance this bothered me not at all!

Meant to BeMeant to BeEdie Claire leads us through another mystery. I really her writing style and always think I have it all figured out but haven't gotten it right yet. Good read!

    7. Amy

It was ok. The plot dragged and I really couldn't connect with any of the characters. I found myself skimming most of this book

    8. Sue Bastiani

I enjoyed this book for the most part really I did. It had some mystery and some romance and I loved it. But this author has trouble ending a story I'm deciding. It went on and on but all in all, it was good.

Meara O'Rourke doesn't remember much before she was adopted at age 4. At 24 she met her birth mother who lied to her. Now 30, with both of her adopted parents dead, her birth mother calls her after an accident. After suffering through several disastrous relationships and the loss of her adoptive parents, Meara is called to the bedside of her dying biological mother, a woman who lied to her the one and only time that had met. But her death brings an unexpected inheritance that is sure to be contested by the woman's step-children. As the connections to the step-children slowly reveal themselves, Meara's search for answers about her adoption brings an unsettling character into her life.Lots of twists and [...]

I loved this book and read it twice. A really good story line, unexpected twists, believable characters, a great way to get lost in time on a rainy afternoon. Ms. Claire is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. My only complaint is that the editing was distracting; it was as if spellcheck was the only editing used. Several times it was clear that the author meant "me" and instead "my" was printed, or some similar typo.

Good read. This book was entertaining all the way through. There was romance and suspense. I never thought the the main character was unrealistic in her actions. The only negative was the way the book ended. It was weak, especially compared to the rest of the book. I would read it again, and will look for more books by this author.

    14. Sue E Morgan

Thrilling romance! As Meara searches to uncover the secrets of her past, she finds so much more than she ever expected. Once again Edie Claire grabbed my attention in the first paragraph and didn't let go!

    16. dorothy swenson

I felt letdownThe main character searches for an answer the whole book and then is ok that she never gets it. If this is part of a series I could understand but I didn't get that impression.

    17. Sarah

A little too much explaining of the mystery but given the set up, I'm at a loss to figure out how to fix that problem. Otherwise I enjoyed the stories and really liked the characters and their development.

    18. Azzie

    19. Cathy

Good premise, but overall the story just fell flat for me at the end. I also skimmed alot of the last few chapters as I didn't quite connect with the characters and wasn't really invested in how their stories would turn out.

    20. Linda Syman

Had me up all night.I really enjoyed this book. I was a little confused with the characters in the end but really can't wait to read another by this author. This is a great clean romance.

    21. Carolyn Klawuhn

    23. Sharon

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Her journey in accepting her biological parentage was releasing for her, although I was curious as to her father. Definitely a must read.

    24. Natalie

A little predictable, but good twists and turns kept the journey enjoyable and me curious to learn how it would all came together.
